Monitoring compliance and effectiveness Element to be monitored All staff who are involved in the care of patients requiring drainage pleural fluid using an indwelling pleural catheter Lead DON, Clinical Manager Tool Staff training records Frequency As required/ordered Reporting arrangements Any incidents regarding the use of the indwelling pleural catheter will be reported to the Agency and the Patient’s Physician. Acting on recommendations and Lead(s) Recommendations made will be implemented by the clinical staff groups – Clinical Nurse Specialists, Clinical Manager, DON Change in practice and lessons to be shared Required changes to practice will be identified and actioned within4 weeks or as agreed in the action plan.
