MDT Home Health Care Agency, Inc. 26 b. For male: (1) Expose the perineum and catheter. (2) Lift the penis and pull back foreskin ½ to 1 inch. (3) Wash the area and the catheter using soap and warm water. Return foreskin to original position. (4) Rinse soap off and dry thoroughly. (5) Secure the catheter with non-allergic tape so that stress or pulling is prevented. (6) Remove gloves and wash hands. (7) Store equipment. DOCUMENTATION: Document completion of catheter care and any other pertinent observations in patient's Clinical Visit Note. ____________________________________________________
