MDT Home Health Care Agency, Inc. ASSIGNMENTS AND STAFFING Assignments In the case of the Administrator, assignments are made by the Board of Directors. The supervising nurse (or physician) and administrative-clerical personnel receive assignments from the Administrator. Staff providing patient/client care services and certain clerical services are given assignments by the supervising nurse. Home health aides routinely receive assignments from the registered nurse or the home health aide coordinator/supervisor under the supervision of the registered nurse/therapist. A qualified professional staff member will be assigned to conduct an assessment of the patient's/client’s eligibility for services and care needs. Patient/client care assignments are made with consideration of patient/client care needs, geographical location, staff availability, staff qualifications, and caseload demands. Whenever possible, an attempt will be made to maintain consistency of personnel assigned to patients/clients. Staffing The Agency ensures the availability of sufficient staff by routinely reviewing the staff to patient/client ratios. Full-time staff are supplemented by contractual and part-time personnel to accommodate fluctuating caseloads. The Agency provides for supervision using an approximate ratio of one supervisor to ten (10) full-time equivalents. Staff Roster A current list of active personnel shall be maintained by the Agency which contains the name and position of all persons employed by the Agency. Patient/Client Roster A current list of active patients/clients shall be maintained by the Agency. Visit Scheduling In the case of professional staff, scheduling of visits will be the responsibility of each staff member or designated scheduler. Scheduling of visits for home health aides will be the responsibility of the supervising nurse/therapist or his/her designee. Home Health Agency Policies A-102
