POLICY ON DISPENSING FLUIDS TO CONFUSED PATIENTS Any patient who is too confused to have a water pitcher and water glass at his/her bedside or within reach will be provided fluids every two (2) hours while awake, unless otherwise indicated by the attending physician, physician assistant, or advanced registered nurse practitioner, acting within his or her respective scope of practice. It will be the responsibility of the nurse in charge to assign an aide to provide adequate fluids to these patients.
