MDT Home Health Care Agency, Inc. JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE OF POSITION: Chief Operating Officer TITLE OF IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Chief Executive Officer POSITION: In accordance with policies and standards established by the Board of Directors, the Chief Operating Officer is responsible, directly or through delegation for the following: 1. The daily administrative operation of the agency; 2. Collaboration with health care professionals to facilitate quality care by providing adequate administrative support for the agency; 3. Complying with applicable laws and regulations; 4. Monitoring quality and appropriateness of services and products; 5. Participates in health education; 6. Demonstrates leadership and communication skills; 7. Directs, delegate the compilation of the annual agency PI reports by the QAPI committee for presentation to the Professional staff and the Board of Directors 8. Represents the organization to other groups, agencies, and the general public; and 9. Keeps the Chief Executive Officer and staff informed of current organizational, community, and industry trends. 10. Development of policies and guidelines of operations; This Job Classification will not have a Potential risk for Occupational Exposure to Blood and other Potential Infections body fluids. RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Builds agency public image by developing good working relationships with community agencies and key institutional personnel. 2. Assesses, evaluates agency administrative staff for effective performance of their duties. 3. Coordinates Agency Committees meetings and Governing Board meetings. 4. Coordinates and schedules continuing education and training for all agency staff. 5. Assures that home health agency administrative staff preserves and files patient care documents and correspondences as specified by agency policies. 6. Chairs the committee that develops an ongoing yearly agency administration evaluation report. Ensure HIPAA guidelines and procedures are maintained. 7. Implements all agency objectives, standards, policies and procedures affecting administrative services. 8. Reviews and approves recommendations for capital expenditure needs, supply and equipment needs, schedules, full-time staff equivalents, and employee benefits in light of the agency's philosophy and objectives. 9. Revises recommendations for capital expenditure needs, supply and equipment needs, salary schedules, full-time staff equivalents, and employee benefits as necessary to address the agency's philosophy and objectives. 10. Develops and coordinates the Management and Computer Information System of the agency. 11. Keeps Chief Executive Officer, and other management staff informed of agency developments, needs, etc., and encourages their participation in problem solving at the organization and community levels. 12. Keeps current on local, state and national issues affecting home care. 13. Participates in selective conferences and workshops to promote knowledge in community health trends, efficiency, in job performance and overall professional growth.
