MDT Home Health Care Agency, Inc. JOB DESCRIPTION ALTERNATE DIRECTOR OF NURSING JOB SUMMARY: Provides overall planning, direction, coordination, management and supervision of all nursing and professional services in conjunction with the Administrator, in the absence of the Director of Nursing (DON, Clinical Manager). Assures quality care by reviewing and assessing each service. Lines of authority and reporting responsibilities: Report to the Director of Nursing, Administrator. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: As per Regulatory Standards Chapter 59A-8.0095 and 400.462(10), F.S.: (a) The Alternate Director of Nursing of the Home Health Agency shall in the absence of the Director of Nursing (DON, Clinical Manager) : l. Meet the criteria as defined in s. 400.462(10), F.S. 2. Supervise or manage, directly or through qualified subordinates, all personnel who provide direct patient care. 3. Ensure that the professional standards of community nursing practices are maintained by all nurses providing care. Ensure HIPAA guidelines and procedures are maintained. 4. Maintain and adhere to agency procedure and patient care policy manuals. (b) If the Administrator is not a Physician or Registered Nurse, the Alternate DON shall (in the absence of the Director of Nursing (DON, Clinical Manager)). : 1. Establish service policies and procedures in compliance with state health statutes and administrative rules, pursuant to S. 381.0011(4),F.S., which generally conform to recommended Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Occupational Safety and Health agency (OSHA) guidelines for safety, universal precautions and infection control procedures. 2. Employ and evaluate nursing personnel. 3. Coordinate patient care services. Set and adopts policies for, and keep records of criteria for admission to service, case assignments and case management. (c) The Alternate DON shall establish and conduct an ongoing Quality Assurance Program which assures (in the absence of the Director of Nursing (DON, Clinical Manager)) : 1. Case assignment and management is appropriate, adequate, and consistent with the plan of care, medical regimen and patient needs. 2. Nursing and other services provided to the patient are coordinated, appropriate, adequate, and consistent with plans of care. 3. All services and outcomes are completely and legibly documented, dated and signed in the clinical service record. 4. Confidentiality of patient data is maintained. 5. Findings (outcomes) of the QAPI program are used to improve services. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Able to speak, read and write in English. 2. Able read assignments, follow directions, 3. Able to communicate and respond clearly on telephone and respond to patient’s spoken needs. (When performing visits) 4. The ability to physically transfer, lift or assist patients whose average weight is 160 pounds with or without the aid of mechanical devices.
