MDT Home Health Care Agency, Inc. POLICY SMOKE FREE ENVIRONMENT Purpose: To establish guidelines concerning Agency’s smoke-free environment in an effort to promote a healthier environment for employees, patients and visitors. Our Agency is in the health care business and is focused on a healthier environment. Definitions: . Tobacco means products derived from the tobacco plant that is smoked, chewed, or otherwise consumed. This does not include nicotine replacement therapy and related products. Procedure: • Employees, volunteers, and vendors/contractors/consultants are prohibited from smoking and using tobacco in any form in Agency buildings, on its grounds and parking lots, excepting only designated smoking areas, and in its vehicles. • Sign age and notification of Agency’s smoke free environment are posted appropriately about the building(s) and property to alert all persons to our policy. • Patients are requested, as appropriate, not to smoke during staff visits, as second hand smoke has been identified as a health hazard. • Visitors are prohibited from smoking in the building(s) and are requested to refrain from smoking while on Agency property, but no confrontational-type action will be sought • The sale of cigarettes, tobacco products, and all smoking materials is prohibited on Agency property.
