For pubic lice, treatment is similar, with the affected area being shampooed. There is no need to shampoo the entire body surface. Shampoo should be repeated in one week. CHART: Treatment should be charted on clinical notes. OTHER INFECTION CONTROL MEASURES: 1 . Place linen in laundry bag (clearly labeled), then place the laundry bag with contaminated line in a second clean bag. After treatment with well, linen may be handled normally. 2. Personal clothing should be handled in the same manner. 3. Health care personnel need not receive prophylactic treatment, but they should be observed for signs of infestation. 4. Gowns and gloves should be worn during close patient contact until treatment with Kwell is carried out. 5. Any appearance of lice and the treatment involved should be reported to the Director of Nursing, Clinical Manager for her further action (e.g. reporting to the local health department).
