THERAPISTS: Every licensee must complete 24 hours of approved CE within the biennium, regardless of where they live or if/where they work. It is the licensees responsibility to ensure the courses are approved for Florida Therapy. The requirements are: Two (2) hours of prevention of medical errors education, 22 hours of general CE, Up to twelve hours may come from home study/online courses, No more than five contact hours of courses in risk management shall be accepted within a biennium. Up to three contact hours in HIV/AIDS education , may be included in the 24 contact hours. Up to three contact hours in prevention of medical errors education, may be included in the 24 contact hours. MSW: Must complete 30 hours of continuing education for the biennium. Five (or seven) of the hours must be as follows: 2 hours in the prevention of medical errors (must be obtained from our Continuing Education providers approved specifically for the prevention of medical errors course). 3 hours in ethics and boundary issues. 2 hours of domestic violence every six years Domestic Violence: Section 456.031, Florida Statutes was revised in 2006 to require the two-hour domestic violence (DV) course be taken as part of every third biennial re-licensure or re-certification. Also, our organization provides or arranges for documented in-service and continuing education for paraprofessionals by competent instructors. Part of this education may be furnished while care is being provided to the client. The annual minimum requirements are as follows: Home Health Aides: 12 hours in each twelve (12) month period Personal Care Workers: 8 hours Office Staff: 8 hours Homemaker/Chore Workers: 4 hours AGENCY INTERNAL CONTINUE EDUCATION RESPONSIBILITY: Including but not limited to: Application date: Bill of Rights, Medical Devices, Conflict of Interest. Annual Education Plan: (amend other necessary in-service) * Infection Control, Handwashing, Bag Technique, TB Precautions, Exposure Plan, Bloodborne pathogens (same day) * Emergency Inservice/OSHA (May-June each year) * Staff/Clients Safety Program.
