MDT Home Health Care Agency, Inc. ABUSE/NEGLECT INVESTIGATION POLICY: MDT Home Health Care Agency, Inc. is dedicated to protecting the health and well being of the community it serves. MDT Home Health Care Agency, Inc. will cooperate with any agency or facility in regards to alleged abuse (verbal or physical), Neglect, and will maintain a process for investigating all alleged violations involving neglect, or mental, or sexual abuse, including injuries of unknown source and misappropriation of patient property, or mistreatment of a patient regardless of whether the alleged abuse is against a MDT Home Health Care Agency, Inc. employee or a facility employee taking care of a MDT Home Health Care Agency, Inc. patient. PROCEDURE: • All allegations, or expected abuse by anyone, or suspicion of mistreatment, neglect, or abuse should be immediately reported to the employee’s supervisor or Director of Nursing, Clinical Manager. Employees who suspect or witness an abusive act by a patient’s caretaker should notify his or her supervisor or Director of Nursing, Clinical Manager immediately. • Upon notification of alleged abuse, MDT Home Health Care Agency, Inc. management will conduct or assist those investigating the alleged abuse, when abuse is verified a Plan must be approved to prevent further abuse according violation verified. • All employees are responsible for notifying his or her supervisor of any suspicion or witness of an abusive act. • The Administrator is responsible for coordinating the investigation within 3 days, according to State and Federal laws and this policy. • Any employee who is suspected of abuse toward a patient for family member may be suspended or assigned office duty pending investigation into the complaint. Assignment of office duty will be dependent on workload demands and availability and must be approved by the Director of Nursing, Clinical Manager. • Any employee who is witnessed committing an abusive act toward a patient or family member will be subject to immediate termination. Multiple allegations of abusive behavior, verbal or physical, with or without a witness will result in disciplinary action including termination.
